KAISER CHIEFS have confirmed that they will support Green Day on a US tour this summer.

Frontman Ricky Wilson said the band were thrilled and had been booked up right until September.

Speaking to the Daily Star, he said he hoped that touring North America with the punk rock band would give them inspiration for their next album.

He said: "We’ve gotta have some new stuff to write about because we’ve done it all.

"When we made the last record we wanted to do it quickly and have loads of fun. Then you finish it and hand it in like homework.

"That’s when it becomes really boring... Everyone starts scrutinising it and all you want to do is get back to being in a band with your mates."

The Kaiser Chiefs have been confirmed to play this year's Reading and Leeds festivals in August.
