Today marks the launch of a genuinely different live new music experience called The Mill, an exciting new platform for emerging music talent in Glasgow and Edinburgh.
The Mill represents the coming together of Miller Genuine Draft, key players in the emerging music scene, and the audience.
There’s a simple manifesto: support those bands that are pushing the boundaries, both in their music and their approach, creating a platform where they can play to their maximum potential. Developed to enable both emerging artists and their audiences to benefit from the rapidly changing landscape of the music industry by bringing them together in a direct and uncomplicated way that is real, honest and genuinely different.
Artists appearing will benefit from the investment in the venue’s lighting and sound as well as a unique promotional package, including having their tracks mixed by an established music producer and a live performance video.
These materials will be available as free downloads at both themill-live.com and specially selected bars in Glasgow and Edinburgh via dedicated Bluetooth enabled pods.
“The Mill’s a brilliant idea” says Ross Millard, guitarist and vocalist with The Futureheads who will be performing a DJ set to celebrate the launch of The Mill (alongside sets from fellow emerging DIY’ers Glaswegian electro pop elves Juno! and Southampton’s Thomas Tantrum).
“For new bands to be able to play a free show for their fans and walk away with a set of live tracks, video and photos to use however they like is exactly how brands should be working in music. Today’s about artists like us being able to communicate directly with their audience without having to rely on a record company to do it for them – anything that helps support that gets my vote”.
