R&B singer Toni Braxton is performing with a heart monitor strapped to her chest following her recent hospital stints.

The Un-Break My Heart hitmaker was hospitalised in Los Angeles earlier this month (Oct16) for complications related to her battle with autoimmune condition lupus. She postponed the start of her The Hits tour, but after only performing a couple of dates, she was back in hospital for a second time.

She returned to the road on 16 October (16) and it appears she is taking extra measures to keep her health in check during her shows as she was spotted wearing a heart monitor during a concert in Savannah, Georgia on Saturday (22Oct16).

Pictures circulating online show the device secured to her chest as she sat on a piano stool wearing a plunging leather jacket, while the monitor could also been seen behind a sheer panel on a glittery dress she wore later on in her concert.

According to TMZ.com, doctors have encouraged Braxton to wear it all the time so they can detect chest pains and any oncoming heart attacks or strokes.

Toni was diagnosed with lupus in 2010, and after her first hospitalisation earlier this month, she told E! News, "I am so excited about going back on the road and seeing all of my wonderful fans and friends. Everyone's life is complicated and this is just a condition that I live with."

Her spokesperson later released a statement noting that the condition needs to be "constantly monitored" after she was forced to postpone a show in Cleveland, Ohio following her second bout of ill health.

Toni is next due to perform at Hard Rock Live in Hollywood, Florida on Wednesday (26Oct16) and she recorded a special message for her fans, in which her heart monitor can again be seen through the sheer fabric of another outfit.

"What's up Hollywood, Florida? I'm so excited to see you guys. I'm getting myself cute, getting myself ready, I feel so much better," she said. "Thank you for being patient."
