Camila Cabello has left girlband Fifth Harmony.

Camila's bandmates Ally Brooke Hernandez, Normani Kordei, Dinah Jane Hansen and Lauren Jauregui announced her departure in open letter across all Fifth Harmony's social media accounts following a performance as a five piece on Sunday night (18Dec16).

They told fans they had been informed by Camila's team she had decided to leave the band after four and a half years, and they "wish her well" before assuring fans they would continue as a four piece.

"You Harmonizers have been there with us since the beginning, you've supported us, you've rejoiced and cried with us, you've grown with us, and with your love and support, we will continue on," they wrote.

"That being said, we are excited to announce that we will be moving forward with the four of us - Ally Brooke, Normani Kordei, Dinah Jane and Lauren Jauregui for our fans. We are four strong, committed women who will continue with Fifth Harmony as well as our solo endeavors."

They added they were excited for the future and told their Harmonizers, the name they give their fans, "We love you with all of our hearts."

The group were put together on America's version of The X Factor in 2012 and released two albums; Reflection in 2015 and 7/27, which spawned singles Work From Home and That's My Girl, earlier this year (16).

The girls have been touring frequently throughout the year and last performed as a five piece on Sunday night at the Y100 Jingle Ball in Florida.

Camila, 19, has already been working on solo projects alongside the group, leading many to speculate about a breakup. She most recently released Bad Things, her duet with Machine Gun Kelly, in October (16), and a collaboration with Shawn Mendes called I Know What You Did Last Summer in 2015.

Camila has yet to comment on her departure on social media.
