Mike Love of the Beach Boys has denied any rumours that Brian Wilson will be rejoining the band for their 50th anniversary.

On a statement on their official website Love tells fans that “The Beach Boys continue to tour approximately 150 shows a year in multiple countries. At this time there are no plans for my cousin Brian to rejoin the tour. He has new solo projects on the horizon and I wish him love and success.

“We have had some discussions of writing and possibly recording together, but nothing has been planned. I, as I’m sure he is, am proud and honored that The Beach Boys music has endured these 50 years, but felt the need to clarify that there are no current 'reunion' tour plans.”

Recently entertainment reporter Robin Leech reported in the Las Vegas Sun that “The Beach Boys are gearing up for next year’s 50th anniversary, and Mike Love told me that his cousin, founder and longtime member Brian Wilson, is reuniting with them for celebration concerts.”

It seems Beach Boys fans have had their hopes dashed once again, although these conflicting reports suggest that something was attempted.

Would it have been so great, however? I guess we’ll never know.
