50 Cent believes Floyd Mayweather is “not right” occasionally, which leads to problems.
The 39-year-old Outlaw rapper became embroiled in a very public contentious battle with the boxer last year, with the musician even taunting the 38-year-old athlete for his poor reading ability at one point during their feud.
But 50 Cent, real name Curtis James Jackson III, claims the pair have put their bad blood aside for now.
“We’ve been good,” 50 Cent told MTV News. “My younger brother happens to be the best fighter in the world. He can make $200 million in 36 minutes. How do you tell him what to do? You don’t.
“Sometimes he’s not right. You’ll tell him, ‘You’re not right.’ Because everyone else is co-dependent, he can’t agree with you. Then you have that argument until he starts to look at it and goes, ‘Alright. He was right.’”
Floyd grabbed headlines after Power 105 radio DJ Charlamagne Tha God played a recording on air last year of the boxer barely being able to read a promo that was scheduled to be broadcast between radio segments.
The athlete struggled to read phrases like “movement to support hiring vets” aloud, and was only able to say “I’m Floyd Mayweather”.
Around the same time this took place, 50 Cent directly taunted Floyd by challenging the boxer to an ALS Ice Bucket Challenge on Instagram.
“Floyd will you except my ALS/ESL CHALLENGE (sic),” the rapper wrote in the video caption. “I will donate $750k to a charity of your choice, If you can read a full page out of a Harry Potter book out loud without starting and stopping or f**king up. Lmao (laugh my a*s off)”
Floyd responded to critics who pointed out his literacy struggles by sharing images of two multi-million dollar checks written to his order on Twitter, writing in the tweet’s caption: “Read this $72,276,000.00. God bless.”
Floyd and Manny Pacquiao will be boxing each other at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on May 2, in what has been dubbed The Fight of the Century.
