Ashley Roberts hoped she would be like Lara Croft one day, "messing up monsters".

The star kicked off her career as part of The Pussycat Dolls, alongside Nicole Scherzinger, Kimberly Wyatt, Carmit Bachar, Melody Thornton and Jessica Sutta.

Since the band parted ways in 2010, she's released solo album Butterfly Effect. But if her singing hadn't gone to plan, she wouldn't have been totally lost.

"When I was younger, I wanted to train dolphins but after seeing Blackfish, I'm fully against that. I just love the ocean, so I'd like to do something connected with that," she smiled to British magazine Very.

"I also love beauty. I'm always doing hair and make-up for my friends, so I'd probably wind up doing something in beauty.

"To be anyone? I don't know. She's kind of a mythical character but when Angelina Jolie played Lara Croft in Tomb Raider, I just thought, 'Dude, can I be her because I wanna be a badass chick that tears stuff down and messes up monsters?'"

Butterfly Effect was released earlier this month and 33-year-old Ashley has also been keeping busy with TV projects such as her stint on I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! in 2012. While her life might seem to be going to plan, she can't help but suffer bouts of anxiety.

"I worry a lot because I'm a Virgo," she sighed.

"And sometimes I stress about things when I need to let them go. It's something I try to work on."
