Britney Spears and her boyfriend David Lucado have reportedly split.
The 32-year-old singer has been dating the 28-year-old family friend for about a year. The breakup is apparently amicable, but the Toxic star is seeking comfort in the company of her sons.
The couple allegedly broke up “a while ago” but the star has been “focusing on her boys after the breakup,” a source told X17Online.
It was rumoured that the star was contemplating marriage earlier this year.
“She wants a traditional family, and he’s loving, down-to-earth – and a great stepfather to her sons, Sean and Jayden,” an insider previously told America’s Life & Style magazine.
“She’s already told friends that if David dropped to one knee tomorrow, she would definitely say yes.”
David was also thought to be thinking about popping the question.
“He is extremely serious about Britney and this is the happiest she has been in a very long time,” a source previously told Radar Online.
David reportedly moved in with Britney earlier this year, and the couple apparently felt marriage was “the next step for them”. It was claimed that the pair was hoping to wed in Hawaii.
Britney has been married twice. Her first marriage was to Jason Alexander in January 2004. The pair exchanged vows at a chapel in Las Vegas, although the union was annulled within 55 hours. In September 2004, she married dancer Kevin Federline, the father of her two boys, but the former couple split in 2006.
