Céline Dion's husband René Angélil wants to die in her arms.

The couple have been married for more than 20 years and have sons Nelson, Eddy and René-Charles together.

René is currently battling throat cancer, which led to Céline taking time off from work. She'll be back at her Las Vegas Caesars Palace residency from August 27 and now reveals some of the struggles she and René are going through.

"[Sometimes he] needs something more sensitive than that, more than just positivity. Sometimes he just wants me to enter into a different place with him.

"I'll say, 'You're scared? I understand. Talk to me about it.' And René says to me, 'I want to die in your arms.' OK, fine, I'll be there, you'll die in my arms," she told USA Today.

While she's over the moon to be back in Vegas, the 47-year-old admits it is no longer her top priority. However it was René, 73, who insisted Céline get back to get back to her day job, after taking time out to care for him.

"I didn't want to be here at first, I don't need it. Don't get me wrong, I love singing for people, but I have priorities," she sighed.

"But René really gave me a gift. All my grieving, it was during this last year. I think I've got this. For now. When it hits me, it's going to hit me. But my biggest job is to tell my husband, we're fine. I'll take care of our kids. You'll watch us from another spot."

What makes the situation harder for the married couple is they don't know how much time they have left. Despite asking doctors time and time again, the answer is always the same.

"We have asked [doctors] many times, how long does he have, three weeks, three months? René wants to know. But they say they don't know," Céline explained.
