- La cantante americana vincitrice di un Grammy Cassandra Wilson ha firmato con Legacy Recordings, divisione catalogo di Sony Music Entertainment, l’ha annunciato oggi il presidente dell'etichetta Adam Block.
COMING FORTH BY DAY, il primo album della Wilson per Legacy, è previsto in uscita nella primavera del 2015.
Un omaggio musicale alla leggendaria cantante jazz Billie Holiday (nata Eleonora Fagan il 7 aprile 1915) nel 100 anniversario della nascita dell’artista, Coming Forth By Day è l’interpretazione contemporanea ma anche senza tempo di Cassandra Wilson, che ripropone con sentimento la mitica Lady Day. Coming Forth By Day è prodotto da Nick Launay, conosciuto come produttore di Nick Cave negli ultimi 10 anni, tra molti altri lavori avventurosi.

La Wilson ha registrato Coming Forth By Day presso gli studi Seedy Underbelly di Los Angeles con un team di prim’ordine a partire dal produttore Nick Launay (Nick Cave, Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs, Arcade Fire), i chitarristi T Bone Burnett e Nick Zinner degli Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs, l’arrangiatore Van Dyke Parks e la sezione ritmica The Bad Seeds (il batterista Thomas Wydler e il bassista Martyn P. Casey).
“A dream of mine is happening,” dice Cassandra Wilson, “I’ve been in love with Billie Holiday’s voice since the moment I heard it, and she has inspired me throughout my career.”
Cassandra Wilson partirà con l’attesissimo tour mondiale a febbraio 2015 ed è previsto come headliner il suo debutto al mitico Apollo Theater di Harlem venerdì, 10 aprile 2015. L'artista chiuderà il 2014 con esibizioni in Norvegia, Germania, Slovacchia e Italia nel mese di novembre e dicembre.
La data italiana si terrà infatti al Teatro Nuovo di Verona sabato 13.12.14.
