2014 is a landmark year for the unmistakable Chrissie Hynde. A return to the live space, “Stockholm”, her first solo album outside of her seminal rock band The Pretenders, and a featured artist in the BBC’s landmark “God Only Knows” charity single, Hynde now announces a series of UK concerts this December to end this exceptional year.
Having performed earlier this year at BBC Radio 2’s Festival In A Day In Hyde Park and the iTunes festival (which The Independent observed her set as being “vital”), Hynde’s mini tour will take in Wolverhampton’s Wulfrun Hall on 12th December, Bristol Trinity on 14th December, Manchester Ritz on 15th December, and London’s Koko on 16th December.
Critics have heaped praise on Stockholm – Rolling Stone observing how on “her delicate and sexy solo.. she can still flash her blade”, and The Guardian stating how “the return of Chrissie Hynde, makes one realise how much we have missed that yearning, soulful vibrato” and noting “how she’s still got it”.
Expect material from the new album as well as classics spanning Chrissie’s legendary and storied career with The Pretenders.
