Cold Chisel have spent the past week working on new music with producer Kevin Shirley.

The Cold Chisel Facebook page has confirmed the recording posting “Putting down some new tunes… A week in the studio…”.

The band pic includes an image of Shirley behind the recording desk.

Cold Chisel’s last album was ‘No Plans’ in 2012. The album peaked at no. 2 on the Australian album chart. Kevin Shirley also produced ‘No Plans’ as well as Chisel’s ‘Last Wave Of Summer’ before that in 1998.

Shirley is one of the most successful rock record producers and mixers of the past 30 years. He has worked on albums by Aerosmith (Nine Lives), Black Crowes (Shake Your Moneymaker and The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion) and Led Zeppelin (How The West Was Won).

South African Kevin moved to Australia in 1987 and hooked up with some of Australia’s greatest rock acts including Silverchair (Frogstomp), Divinyls (Underworld) and Hoodoo Gurus (Blue Cave).

Meanwhile before you hear new Cold Chisel prepare for some classic Jimmy Barnes. Jimmy will mark his 30th anniversary as a solo artist with ’30:30: Hindsight’ next month through Liberation.
