Ed Sheeran thinks there could be "magic" between Taylor Swift and Orlando Bloom.
The 23-year-old singer/songwriter is close to the blonde musician and the pair toured together last year to support Taylor's album Red. Ed has also managed to strike up a friendship with Orlando after recording song I See Fire for the soundtrack of the actor's recent fantasy movie The Hobbit.
After introducing Taylor to his girlfriend Athina Andrelos, it seems Ed is hopeful for a romance between his pal and the British film star.
“I met [Orlando] at The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug premieres in LA and Germany, so we spent four days together,” Ed told irishexaminer.com.
“He’s so lovely and really cool, and they live in the same building, so the magic might present itself, eventually.”
It wouldn't be the first time Ed has played matchmaker. Former Friends actress Courteney Cox recently got engaged to Snow Patrol rocker Johnny McDaid after the flame-haired star introduced them. When asked what it takes to be a part of the A-list clique, Ed revealed he takes inspiration from the actions of those around him.
“Just be reliable when sh*t goes down,” he shared. “Johnny and Gary [Lightbody, 38, Snow Patrol’s frontman] were there most of last year, which was a tough 12 months. They helped me through that.
"It’s hard to hold down relationships and friendships when you travel so much. I’d been on tour for three years, got back and everything fell on me.”
When he isn't busy promoting his music Ed seeks solace away from the limelight. However, he won't be found basking in the sun on a remote luxury island.
“I’m ginger, so we don’t really sit on beaches. I can’t think of anything less relaxing than sitting, getting burned in the sun,” he laughed.
“No, I just shut all my doors, turned my phone off and I watched lots of DVDs. I went on a spree on Amazon, they’re pretty much giving away DVDs for free these days. I bought 200 films.”
