Jack Antonoff likes it when his clothes don't make sense.

Jack is known for his cool indie style, rocking thick black-rimmed glasses and quirky wardrobe ensembles.

Unlike his girlfriend Lena Dunham, who is regularly seen in a state of undress on her hit show Girls, Jack likes to have fun with his clothes on.

"I have the most fun when I feel like a kid who's allowed to get dressed for school the first time by himself. I just throw on a bunch of things that don't make sense together," Jack smiled to American Esquire.

As well as chatting to the men's glossy, Jack also took part in Esquire's Sidewalk Sessions; where musicians play for charities of their choosing.

The 31-year-old musician took to the streets of Austin to benefit The Ally Coalition, an organisation that works with entertainers and their fans to raise awareness, action and funds in support of LGBTQ equality.

"The most important thing is making music that really matters. I think people are so much smarter than they get credit for," Jack said of being able to cut through the noise. "Masses of people are stupid, but individual people are smart.

"Game of Thrones is one of the greatest shows of all time. House of Cards is incredibly creative, well-written, and exciting. It's not like the conversation is about Dancing with the Stars, although a lot of people watch it. The actual conversation that permeates culture is about good stuff. So the first step always has to be doing something really good."
