Kid Rock says his social skills are "obviously" more developed than Eminem's

The rock star released his first record in 1990 and has gone on to sell 25 million records in the US. His career means he's met many famous people, among them famed rapper Eminem. The two recently hung out at one of Kid's homes with his other musician friend Bob Seger, but it wasn't a supremely comfortable experience.

"Em's just sitting in the corner - me, Em and Bob - and they're trying to relate, but they're both a little kooky... Eminem's funny as sh*t, man. He's a great father, he's funny, he's talented out of his ass, but you know, obviously, my social skills are much more developed," Kid told Rolling Stone magazine.

Being a good parent is something the rocker holds dear as he is father to Robert James Ritchie Jr. He was born when Kid was 22 and he raised him alone after Robert's mother left the baby with Kid when he was six months old. As time went on the star's career began to soar, meaning all kinds of temptations came his way and he sometimes wonders if Robert saw too much as a little boy.

"I'd be driving the field trip Monday after I banged, like, four hookers. Well, not hookers, but, you know, four nice girls from Cincinnati," he said.

"He knew I was wild, I didn't hide any of that. But it was kind of our dirty little secret together. He saw girls come in and out, which probably wasn't the healthiest thing. I tried not to do it too much, but f**k I had a d**k and I was famous at that time, you know?"

Robert has now become a father, which is exciting for Kid. He's been clear about the kind of help he's willing to give though and wants his son to learn the value of money himself.

"I'm excited for him but he's gotta give up a lot of sh*t to have to take care of that baby. I said, 'You know how your friends are telling you I'm f**king rich? I f**king am. You're not. And if I wrote you a cheque, I'd be doing a disservice to you,'" he said.

Kid's latest record is called First Kiss and is accompanied by a tour. As he's done in the past the star wants to keep the ticket cost down as he knows not everyone has a lot of disposable income.

"45 - 50-year-old girls wearing extra large T-shirts - they're my bread and butter," he said. "They know how to f**king party - 'I don't give a f**k, I'm making a T-shirt and putting sequins on it. I'm saving my money for beer and having a good time.’”
