Miranda Lambert has hinted that caffeine and sad songs are getting her through her marriage breakdown.

The 31-year-old and fellow country music star Blake Shelton announced their plans to divorce after four years of marriage on July 20. During a gig in Nashville, Tennessee on Tuesday night, Miranda shared with the crowd how she was coping in the aftermath of the news.

“Well, I've been living off of caffeine and sad songs lately," she said as she strummed on her guitar, according to Us Weekly. "So, we're gonna drink some caffeine and sing sad songs."

The star then serenaded the audience with her 2011 song Dear Diamond at the city's famed 3rd and Lindsley Bar and Grill.
Miranda and Blake, 39, tied the knot in May 2011 after meeting in 2005. But last week they released a joint statement to the Associated Press saying that they had sadly called time on their union.

“This is not the future we envisioned," they said. "And it is with heavy hearts that we move forward separately. We are real people, with real lives, with real families, friends and colleagues. Therefore, we kindly ask for privacy and compassion concerning this very personal matter."

While neither singer has elaborated on the reasons for their split, the former couple did share a friendly Twitter exchange days after the announcement.

“Hey @mirandalambert can u believe there's people who haven't bought @ashleymonroe new album?” Blake tweeted. “Isn't that shocking?!! (sic)”

Miranda responded by writing back: “@blakeshelton no I can't because it is the best work she has ever done! I love it! We love you @ashleymonroe.(sic)”

Blake then concluded the conversation by referencing Miranda’s last tweet and adding: “Yes we do!! (sic)"
