Linkin Park’s YouTube channel ‘linkinparktv’ has hit the 1 billion view landmark, with their most popular video “New Divide” currently on over 131 million views.

They take the all-time no.1 in Rock position on starcount’s popularity ranking, beating Green Day and Red Hot Chili Peppers, who have 245m and 327m views respectively. The YouTube milestone follows the news that Linkin Park’s debut album “Hybrid Theory” has sold 10 million copies in the US alone since it’s release in 2000. Six albums later and the band are still going strong, achieving a fifth no.1 album earlier this year.

Linkin Park join a host of other music artists that have achieved over 1 billion Youtube views, Lady Gaga being the first to reach it back in October 2010. Since then, the controversial superstar has been overtaken by current YouTube leader Justin Bieber, who has over 2.8 billion views on his main channel. Gaga is now the third most viewed musician on YouTube, after Rihanna overtook her in January.

Linkin Park’s achievement make them the most viewed rock group, and it’s not just on YouTube that they take the lead - they have over 45 million fans on Facebook too, making them more popular on the network than Beyonce and Taylor Swift. A recent photograph uploaded onto their profile reached over 160,000 ‘likes’. It looks like these guys are getting comfortable at the top, and others might want to take notes when it comes to social media.
