From 22nd July until 6th August, Paddington Central will play host to the Gigs competition, which has helped to launch the careers of upcoming artists Robbie Boyd, Charlotte Campbell and The Tailormade amongst others.

Young musical hopefuls will play their hearts out in a series of live gigs to compete for a place in the Grand Final and the chance to be crowned Gigs Champion 2015.

The talented performers, all aged 11 – 25, were chosen to take part earlier this year and include solo artists, duets and groups of up to eight members. There will be something to suit everyone’s musical tastes with the live acts ranging across every genre from rock to classical and beatbox to country.

The performances will take place in Paddington Central’s very own amphitheatre in Sheldon Square. Here, you can watch the acts and listen to the beats while enjoying your lunch break or after-work drinks, and there are plenty of restaurants or vibrant cafes to choose from, including: Itsu, Pearl Liang, Poncho No. 8 and Tossed. Dates of the performances include: 18th, 22nd, 25th, 29th and 30th July and 5th and 6th August and they will be performing from 12:00 to 14:30 and from 16:00 to 19:30.

All acts will be filmed and uploaded to www.london.gov.uk/gigs where you can vote for your favourite. Along with a panel of experts, the public vote will decide who makes it to the Gigs Grand Final on Sunday 6th September 2015.

The Gigs competition has been running since 2009 and this year forms part of the inaugural Busk in London Festival, three weeks of great, free street performance, which begin with national busking Day on Saturday 18 July. More information at www.buskinlondon.com.
