Nicki Minaj admits she “feels shy a lot of times” in the presence of other people.

The outspoken Anaconda rapper is known for her flamboyant lyrical style and fashion.

But Nicki claims she’s far from outgoing in many situations.

"Yes and people don't know that," she told E! News at the American Music Awards Sunday. "I feel shy a lot of times actually. I just push myself to go for it."

Nicki was born in Trinidad and Tobago but she was brought up in New York City. She has spent a lot of time in Los Angeles for a while now and the musician thinks it’s nearly time to move back home.

“Being away from my family and people who love me and love me the most [scares me]," she shared. "So I'm going to move back to the East Coast…just to keep grounded and be around. I want to see my baby brother grow up a little more. I think it's good for the soul."

Nicki will be releasing her third studio album, The Pinkprint, in December.

And she couldn’t be happier with the new LP, as the star is convinced the work exhibits a lot of musical maturity.

"I'm so excited. I'm so proud of it," she gushed. "It really shows a lot of growth. I know that my fans are really going to appreciate the subject matter on a lot of the songs."

Although rumours have surfaced recently suggesting Nicki may retire after The Pinkprint is released, she assures the world that won’t happen.

"I said it after the fifth album," she noted. "I'm only about to put out the third album so that's a long time from now."
