Miranda Lambert didn’t know her husband Blake Shelton has a “sweet, big-brother side” until she watched him on TV.
Blake is one of the judges on American TV talent contest The Voice, alongside Cee Lo Green, Christina Aguilera and Adam Levine.
The country musician’s wife Miranda has discussed how amazed she was when she first saw her spouse on the programme. She knew it would be a hit when she heard who was involved with the show, but didn’t expect to learn something about her husband by watching it.
“What makes The Voice different from other reality competitions? It actually has current celebrities as judges. They're not people who used to be celebrities coming back to try to give advice,” she explained. “Also, The Voice is the only one with a country artist. And not just any country artist - people love my husband, Blake. There's a sweet, big-brother side to him on the show that I ¬never knew existed.”
Miranda was one of a number of stars to take part in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. The publication asked musicians, actors and comedians to discuss their peers, who have been named the 2011 Entertainers of the Year.
Daniel Radcliffe was one actor who received the accolade, with Gary Oldman praising his dedication to the profession.
Julia Roberts spoke in glowing terms about one of this year’s stand-out musicians Adele, while Glee stars Darren Criss discusses his admiration for Katy Perry.
The first time Darren and Katy met was ahead of a big event they were singing at, and she blew him away.
“It was?a very low-key rehearsal: no lights, no ¬costumes, no mics - nothing. Just me and her in a dressing room, singing a cappella. I was so struck by the incredibly raw, ¬genuine sound that came out of her, especially in such a non-performance setting. This was the voice that millions had fallen in love with, and I was experiencing it in its most real form,” he said.
