Lyrics & Music written by : Mark Laurence Zammit

What message does your song give?

The song tells the story of a girl who has just ended a relationship with her boyfriend, however is still haunted by the mistakes she unconsciously made during that time. Aghast with horror, she has found indecent selfies of herself spread around the internet, the same ones her boyfriend had asked her to send him, whilst in the relationship. Throughout the song she reflects on her situation, and makes some drastic decisions.

Do you like to compete in Festivals? Why/Why Not?:

I used to enjoy competing in festivals when I was younger as I thought they were a great opportunity to build confidence but I slowed down as soon as I grew up due to my academic studies and also because I started to discover various other things I can do with my talent, rather than just festivals. In fact, lately, I have focused more on theatre and haven’t competed in a festival in quite some time.

This Festival supports our native tongue. Do you prefer to sing in Maltese, English or another language?

Usually, I prefer to sing in English, however recently I have started to appreciate and listen to Maltese songs more frequently and it has been growing on me.

Which is your favourite Maltese Song of all time?:

Corazon’s Mill-Għajnejn ta’ Tifla - the winning song of 2010’s Għanja tal-Poplu.

And your favourite International Song of all time?:

Send in the Clowns from A little Night Music.

Who inspires you as an Artist?:
Sierra Boggess and Julie Andrews

Would you share highlights from your music career during the last 12 months? :

Last Summer, I was in London following a short course in Musical Theatre at the Arts Educational Schools, and later on I was part of Dun Ġorġ: il-Musical, a live production put up a group of young people. I have also sang in Rome together with the choir I am a member of during the Pope’s Epiphany mass.

What are your goals in music ? :

I have a lot of goals, however my main one and yet the hardest to achieve, is to be able to work as a musical theatre performer.

How much time per day do you spend on your music career ? :

I don’t have a particular slot assigned to my musical career everyday, but when a singing exam approaches, I must study for at least an hour everyday.

If you had to choose another Artist to duet with, who would that be and why?

Julie Andrews definitely. She has been my favourite artist ever since I was little and I have always been fascinated by her.

Do you have a message for the Music News Malta followers ? :

Don’t underestimate the capabilities of Maltese artists. We should all appreciate local music more, especially music which encourages the Maltese language.
