One Direction are reportedly “riding the crest of a wave” professionally speaking.

The British boyband is remarkably popular, having sold more than 50 million records worldwide since the group’s debut in 2010.

One Direction is currently performing shows internationally as part of their On the Road Again Tour and although they have been touring non-stop since 2011, it’s claimed promoters are eager to put on another concert series soon after their current string of performances concludes.

“There were rumours of 1D taking time out after this year. But everyone involved knows they’re riding the crest of a wave at the moment and that once the hype does finally end it will be hard to reignite,” a source told UK newspaper The Mirror.

One Direction went from five to four members after Zayn Malik announced his departure from the band at the close of March and the group is now comprised of Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne and Niall Horan.

Apparently their On the Road Again Tour is expected to take in just under $270 million in gross profits by the time it ends on October 31.

With potential to earn even higher sums, it’s claimed One Direction will be meeting with promoters next week to discuss another tour for their fifth studio album, which they are said to be recording right now.

“It has been an exhausting few years of touring and recording – but it is the chance of a lifetime and the deals on offer just look too good to refuse,” the insider noted.
