Anti-nuclear weapon doco ‘Countdown To Zero’ gets big name support from the musicians.

The film, produced by Oscar-winner Lawrence Bender (who worked on Inglourious Basterds and An Inconvenient Truth) and directed by Lucy Walker (who made Devil’s Playground and Blindsight), will be released at the end of July.

Countdown To Zero is narrated by Gary Oldman and features interviews with Jimmy Carter, Mikhail Gorbachev, Tony Blair, Robert McNamara and Pervez Musharraf.

But if that heavyweight political line-up isn't interesting enough to get the punters in, Pearl Jam gave their track ‘The Fixer’ from last year’s Backspacer album, to play over the credits.

Other high profile musicians have also recorded PSAs about the film and nuclear disarmament in general.

Some of the artists to get behind the film include Trent Reznor, Weezer, R.E.M., OK Go, Fanfarlo, Jay Electronica, Tom Morello of Rage Against The Machine, Mayer Hawthorne, the Gossip, Neon Indian, Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros, and Circa Survive.

Maybe that will be enough to get people to support global nuclear disarmament.
