Ronan Keating admits he "deserved" what happened to him after his wife left him following a seven-month affair.

Ronan Keating "deserved" what he got when his wife left him after a seven-month affair.

The Boyzone singer had been secretly romancing 27-year-old backing dancer Francine Cornell behind the back of his then wife Yvonne in 2009, and despite trying to stay together they were unable to make their marriage work, something Ronan blames himself for.

He said: "It's been a tough couple of years - I deserve what I got."

However, he is pleased with how his children Jack, 13, Marie, 11, and six-year-old Ali are doing and is proud his eldest daughter is going into showbiz.

He said: "My 11-year-old daughter made a film this year, which is coming out in February; a horror movie called 'Dark Touch'."

On his own career, Irish-born Ronan is particularly impressed with how Australian 'X Factor' - on which he is a judge - is doing.

He added to Magic 105.4 radio: "'X Factor', we had our first show last night and we blew the ratings with 2.3million which is the biggest we have ever had and we are number one show down there so that's amazing, very excited to go back down.

"Mel B's on the panel - she's good. She's exactly what you want on a panel - she gives it! She's great fun."
