Serayah McNeill was shocked by Taylor Swift’s humility when they were first introduced.
The Empire actress made an appearance in the singer’s award-winning music video Bad Blood and she also graced the red carpet with eight other superstars at the 2015 MTV Music Video Awards last Sunday.
Being a part of Taylor’s girlfriend squad is an honour for Serayah, who admits becoming the pop star’s friend was a huge surprise.
"I was driving, and my mum called me, saying, "So guess who just called me? Taylor Swift!" Serayah revealed in her cover interview with ASOS. "She said that Taylor had asked for my number so she could talk through everything about the video. I was like, 'Don't ask me! Just get her to text me now!'
"When Taylor called, she said, 'Thank you so much for saying you'll do it’, and I replied, 'Come on! Anything! I'm there!' It just shows that huge pop stars … can still have that humility, which is so inspiring."
At the MTV VMAs last weekend, Taylor arrived on the red carpet with Serayah, Selena Gomez, Karlie Kloss, Gigi Hadid, Mariska Hargitay, Cara Delevingne, Lily Aldridge, Martha Hunt and Hailee Steinfeld by her side.
But even though all of these women are super famous and successful in their own right, Serayah insists hanging out with the clan is as normal as can be.
"We all hang out," she said. "We get together and we go eat and go to late-night cafes. I think people think it's this celebrity gathering, but it's just a bunch of girls, hanging out."
