The Malta Eurovision Song Contest has gained popularity among different genres of music in recent years. We have seen a shift from the typical pop and traditional ballads to a more colourful mix of styles taking part in the contest. Besides the twenty hopeful contestants, this year we shall also witness three of the top local bands as well as other local talent including the comic duo Gorg u Pawlu and the winner of the 2013 Junior Eurovision Song Contest Gaia Cauchi.

During the semi-final which will take place on Friday 7th February, Matthew James Borg and Peter Borg from the rock/pop band Red Electrick as well as the pop alternative rock band The Crowns will entertain the public.

Gaia Cauchi will open the show on Saturday with a special performance. Other guest performances on Saturday include a cool mix of the 2103 hit single Hot and Famous and the latest song called Unique from Gorg u Pawlu.

Popular local band Winter Moods will debut a brand new song at the Malta Eurovision Song Contest. The song, Everlasting, is a powerful ballad, a style that Winter Moods have become renowned for. Everlasting follows in the success of Winter Moods’ hit, Days of My Life which topped local charts in recent weeks. Both songs are taken from the band’s upcoming new album which is due for release before Summer.
