Troubled AC/DC drummer Phil Rudd had a warrant for his arrest issued this morning after he failed to arrive on time for court.
Justice Timothy Brewer of the High Court in Tauranga issued the warrant at 9am but gave Rudd 30 minutes grace to arrive. The AC/DC drummer turned up a few minutes later.
Rudd is facing the New Zealand court today on the charge of threatening to kill a man as well as two minor drug possession charges of methamphetamine and cannabis.
After the brief hearing Rudd was remanded on bail. His case has been transferred to the Tauranga District Court. Rudd was released on bail and set to appear back in court on December 2.
The Rudd court drama has placed his job with AC/DC is doubt. AC/DC are set to announce their world tour soon which is expected to end in Australia in March 2016.
Angus Young and Brian Johnson suggested in their recent interview with Howard Stern that Rudd would not be part of the band moving forward. “The situation will take care of itself. He has gotten himself into a pickle. There is nothing we can do about it. We are talking about criminal charges here. We are talking about judges, we are talking about juries. We are going to go on tour. Nothing is going to stop us,” Johnson said.
Rudd was not included in the recent ‘Rock Or Bust’ and ‘Play Ball’ videos. He is also absent from the current AC/DC publicity photo and official 2015 AC/DC calendar.
