Johnny Marr's Inception soundtrack up for BAFTA

The former Smiths guitarist collaborated with composer Hans Zimmerman on the soundtrack to the film by Christopher Nolan.

On finding out news of the nomination via Twitter The Cribs man commented:

"Inception soundtrack nominated for a BAFTA award. I'll get me coat."

Not the only musical legend to feature in film soundtracks in recent days Trent Reznor's won a Golden Globe at the weekend.

The Nine Inch Nails frontman and Atticus Ross picked up Best Original Score for 'The Social Network'.

The pair have also been lined up to write the music to director David Lynch's next film - the US remake of 'The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo'.
