The winning entry in the Summer Hit Song Contest 2011 is 'Let's Party' by Minik and Siconix, lyrics and music by Siconix.
This is a summer-themed song typical of local clubs. The final of the contest was held recently at Portomaso Marina at the Hilton Malta in St Julians.
Deo Grech, Natius Farrugia and Marica Smith compered the evening. The judging panel was led by Jackie Vassallo Bianchi and composed of Ryan Borg (presenter/producer), Clint Bajada (presenter and DJ on local programme Clint on One), Renato Vella (presenter, singer and organiser of musical events), Olivia Lewis (singer and voice trainer), Manolito Galea (musician, composer and recording engineer), Josette Grech (image consultant with a long experience in local TV especially musical programmes), Vittorio Gauci and Gianluca Capitta from the band The Crowns.
Second placing went to 'Forget My Name', an R'n'B song performed by Petra (lyrics by Natasha Turner and music by Heathcliffe Balzan), while Latin sounding ‘Stay' sung by Ina Robinich placed 3rd (lyrics by Rita Pace, music by Andrew Zahra). Walter Anthony won the public’s prize with 'Turn On The Lights' by Philip Vella, a performance during which Anthony was accompanied by the Southville Dancers.
The final of the Summer Hit Song Contest 2011will be aired on August 12 on One TV after the 1930h news.
