It seems the Blur guitarist was forced to flee for his life after been evacuated from his hotel as a fire spread through the building.

Tweeting yesterday Coxon revealed how the drama unfolded whilst on tour in Falmouth, Cornwall.

"We have rooms at the beach hotel and had to leave when the smell of smoke for a little much," he posted.

"We watched it... We had to leave the foyer and then watch it get worse and worse..rather sad."

Three people staying at the 120-bedroom hotel are still "unaccounted for", police said in a statement today.

Over 100 firefighters were called to tackle the blaze which seemilgly started at the rear of the seaside property.

Devon and Cornwall Police confirmed that three "have not been located at this time".

"A fire investigation will be taking place later this morning."

Fire crews tackling the blaze at the Falmouth Beach Hotel are using sea water to help dampen the site.
