When Amanda Palmer took to Kickstarter.com to raise money for next album she raised over $100,000 in the first week. One week in, she has raised $598,142.

Before the end of this month, Amanda Palmer may very well raise $1,000,000. Significantly more than a major label would put up these days.

Amanda as a solo act and with her band Dresden Dolls were once signed to Roadrunner Records. Amanda left Roadrunner, went Indie, and decided that for this next record that she would offer her fans the chance to invest … and they have.

11,033 people have so far pledged the $598,142. There is still 23 days of capital raise to go. Investors will all get a copy of the album. That means 11,033 have already sold, that is over 2000 more copies than the number one album by One Direction sold in Australia last week.

Amanda put together the Grand Theft Orchestra to record the project and began work on the album in Melbourne, Australia in March.

The project will also include an Art Book containing art, photos, lyrics and behind the scenes looks at some of the artists creations.

The money raised will also fund a tour to promote the record with dates set for Boston, New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, London and Berlin.

You can fund the Amanda Palmer project for a minimum of $1. For $1 you will receive a digital download of her album. For $25 or more you will receive the album on CD. For $50 or more you will receive the album in vinyl. For $100 or more you will receive the signed art book. For $125 ore more you will receive the art book plus CD.
