Danish Pop sensation Aqua have returned to Australia on their Greatest Hits Tour. Dominating the airwaves in the late 90's with hits Barbie Girl and Doctor Jones, Aqua still know how to whip a crowd into a frenzy.

Band members Lene Nystrom (vocalists), Rene Dif  (vocalists), Soren Rasted (keyboardist) and Claus Norreen (guitarist) gave it their all despite a previous cancellation in Adelaide due to Lene's health. Letting the crowd know she was fighting off a cold (due to the air conditioning on her long haul flight to Australia), Lene asked the audience to help her out.

Performing at the Palais Theatre in St Kilda, it didn't take long for the audience to get up on their feet, singing along to Doctor Jones and Happy Boys and Happy Girls. Soon followed Lene's captivating performance of Aquarius and the moment she sung the last note she bowed and left the stage. It was at this point, it was clear that her throat was failing her. Rene quickly stepped in and gave the audience an impromptu comedy routine, giving Lene a much-needed break and demonstrating his talent as a comedian. Rene invited the audience to ask questions and when an eager fan asked to kiss his head, Rene quickly accepted. Just as it was getting a little weird, the music started again and Lene returned to the stage.

Sucker for a Superstar, Lollipop (Candyman) and the long awaited performance of Barbie Girl once again got the crowd dancing and singing with the band. Rene kept the party atmosphere going by stepping off the stage and joining the audience, hugging and taking selfies with fans along the way. During the last song, Rene invited the audience to join the band on stage and within minutes the stage was full. Lene took to the mic for one final time and thanked the audience for "sticking with me"………."those who have seen me before know l can do better".

Overall a sensational performance by all, despite Lene's ailing throat. Special mention goes out to Rene for stepping in and saving the day. If Rene decides to leave the world of music behind, I'm sure he'll have no trouble landing a career as a comedian.
