1) Christina, tell us something about your self
- I was born in Cyprus, Larnaca in 1994, I am 19 years old and I sing since I can remember.
2) What made you become a singer/performer?
- I was lucky to be borne in a family where everyone loved music. I grew up with music, so it wasn’t that hard to fall in love and want to follow this profession. It all started as I’ve been told, when I was about 3 years old….my favorite toys were karaoke machines, microphones and everything else was connected with music. By the time I was 6, I was able to stand in front of a large audience with a big orchestra behind me and perform. I wasn’t thinking then that this is what I will do, it was all for fun. After that, my parents sent me to take piano and vocal lessons and I loved it.
3) We know you was 17 years old when you become famous with the single My Reason…tell us about that
- yes, I had one year left to finish school and everybody from my management team agreed that I had to make “the big step” ….i recorded my first singles with the Romanian producer Catalin Dascalu. My Reason was first, followed by Kiss and Hypnotized. All those songs were signed with the Spanish label Planeta Mix Records and very soon, My Reason was in the Spanish charts becoming number ONE for 5 weeks. I felt proud and grateful in the same time.
4) How do TV and Radio stations support you in Cyprus?
- I was the only artist from Cyprus who adopted this music style, so TV and Radio stations “adopted” me….they loved my work and they supported me since the beginning. I wanna take this opportunity and thank every and each one of them, because we all know how important they are for an artist carrier.
5) What style of music are you into?
- All my songs are Dance/House … it suites my age and I love it, but in the future I will add POP and R&B in my repertoire.
6) What are your biggest ambitions in music?
- I am a very ambitious person and have lot of dreams…I work very hard to make my dreams come true though…I never wait for things to happen, I provoke them. My biggest ambition and dream is to be able to stand on stage next to important people from International Music Industry and I believe with hard work and a little luck, I will get there some day
7) Tell us about your new projects…
- After the single “If You Wanna” which was released last November by Planeta Mix Records, I have two new songs “I Believe in You” and “Take it Away” which will be released worldwide by an American record label, SMG Global Network. They are distributed by UMDG (Universal Music Digital Group). The official release will be May 28th 2013.
I have also some very important collaborations coming up soon, from many countries and I am very proud of each one of them because there are so special to me.
- from Spain, I have a collaboration coming up with the label G-Soulja Productions and some of their best producers. Is an honor because although they are a small label, they are very well connected all over the world and their releases are heard worldwide.
- from Romania, with the label Voices Media, which is very respected label and work with some of the greatest producers in the country.
- from Greece I am doing a song with the great artist Anastasis K. which is very known in his country and had already collaborated with top names from Greek music business
- from USA I had the honor to be contacted by a very respected and loved rap&Hip-Hop artist Trigga Man. He is working on some featuring for us and I am so excited.
- last but not the least is Mr. Chan Vella from Malta, who sent me some time ago a wonderful song. I was very happy when I received it because of the beautifulness of the song. Is very different from the style I did until now. We also discussed the possibility of second song, so we will surprise you. I truly believe he is a great composer and I love his work.
8) What are the most exciting things that have happened and which were the most exciting places you have being as a singer?
Everything I do and everywhere I go is exciting….meeting new wonderful people everyday from music industry, every performance, every new song, all this I found it excited. I had the opportunity of visiting Malta when I was little and I just wanna say that is not only a beautiful country, but has wonderful people as well. I was lucky to meet some of Malta’s celebrities and to visit beautiful places. It was excited and I have great memories, which I will treasure them forever.
9) What do you think about Eurovision?
I love the Glamour of Eurovision. I believe is a great contest which gives any artist the opportunity of living a dream, even if it last one day. I want to congratulate Malta for the good place this year in the contest. It was a great song.
10) Is being from an Island an obstacle for you?
I don’t believe so, I think no matter where you are from, if people like your music nothing will stop them to follow you and your songs. The most important thing is never to give up. Music Industry is tough…is very difficult to get in, but once you make it, everything is easy.
11) Do you have favorite music, musicians, performers?
Of course I do…I love everything is good. I listen to all music styles and I have my favorite performers. I love Andrea Bocelli, Aretha Franklin, James Brown, Etta James, Christina Aguilera, Celine Dion. Those are just few of a very big list. Those are also artists who inspire me.
12) Do you have a message to Music News Malta followers?
I am one of your followers and yes I do have a message for them…all your followers are music lovers and I believe everyone who loves music has a pure heart. They are wonderful, because music is wonderful and it helps every one of us to keep going. Music has the power to unite people all over the world no matter what’s the color of our skin or what language we speak.
