Las Vegas 4 piece Imagine Dragons, celebrating the launch of their new album “Smoke + Mirrors”, tore the house down to a modest yet eccentric crowd of 750 lucky people on a crisp winter’s night next to the Thames. In addition to the music (which was brilliant by the way), there was also art on show at the free live gig, displaying not only the brilliantly designed album cover, but a collection of pieces by designer Tim Cantor.

Imagine Dragons began the evening with one of their earlier songs and debut single “It’s Time”, before leading in with “Rocks” as the crowd started to grow. They played an even setlist between their earlier stuff from debut album “Night Visions” and new album (which is officially released on 17th February) “Smoke + Mirrors”. Despite performing in such a small venue in what was a mixture of a skate park and looked like an old railway station, Imagine Dragons showed no sign of a reduced performance, quite the contrary actually. Imagine Dragons seemed to thrive in a smaller venue, as lead singer Dan Reynolds mentioned.

After an 11 song set list spanning across their modest career, the Vegas band ended with fan favourite and probably their most popular song to date “Radioactive”. It is also my favourite song and the highlight of the night…..
