Although it's a rather windy thursday night of this cold February, nothing can warm me up more than a pint of Guiness and one of the most relevant bands of today's indie music scene.
Following four years of absence, Interpol are back and hopefully for good too.
The excitement is growing and everyone is finally stepping away from the bar and finding the perfect spot to enjoy the show.
To warm us up even further were punk duo from Kent called Slaves. I must admit you don't often see such confidence and such character in support bands, but these guys definitely got the crowd's full attention. Unsure at first but 'The Hunter' blew me away with it's tremendous energy.There's definitely more to come for these lads.
Quick sound check and set up, and before we knew it Interpol open up with a hit from their first album 'Turn On The Bright Lights' not be the only hit to be played from the album.
Maybe it was the silent entrance, the sombre black suits or the mild mannered singer, but I was expecting more fizz.
Sold out venue, The Forum, is bursting with people from mixed generations, but the energy is lacking, until 'Evil' kicks in.
In spite of the awkward start, the band win the crowd over. Lead singer, Paul Banks, gives us a gentle smile (one of many) with a polished, sharp, if a little rigid, performance.
Even though the audience are now in full voice the energy levels are still somewhat lacking. 'Pioneers To The Falls', 'Slow Hands' and 'NYC' appear to be the crowd favourites and a few of mine alongside the brilliant 'Rest My Chemistry'.
The show finishes with first album's 'Untitled' with only half the audience left. I guess that wind was colder than I imagined with the pull of a warm home just too tough to resist.
