The first I knew of Jamie Raven, as is the case with the majority of people, was seeing him on Britain’s Got Talent where he ended up a well placed 2nd to a dog that may technically have cheated, but I won’t dwell on that now, Jamie certainly doesn’t.

Then having been invited to report on Virgin Atlantic’s first direct flight to Detroit, I ended up sitting next to him on the way there and as luck would have it even on the way back! Now, I’m as expert as any journalist can be on the subject of Jamie Raven, although a mastermind appearance may still be a way off.

Now 31 (nearly 32) Jamie Raven is and has been a professional magician for 10/11 years. He lives in Ascot, was born in Hammersmith, and has been married to wife Ashley for a year.

From a very young age he enjoyed watching magic as most young boys do but aged 10 that fascination grew deeper. His enquiring mind wanted to find out how one person can dumbfound another so absolutely. It was at this time that the inner machinations of the art form first began to be explored.

“I’ve been incredibly lucky to be afforded a platform to do it professionally, but if I didn’t get paid to do it, I’d be doing it anyway.”

Jamie has now studied the art for 20 years, during that time he also got a 2:1 in Economics at Bath and after temping for a short 6 month period he turned professional magician.

He spends his spare time with his family and playing golf.

Just prior to an event at The Filmore in Detroit City Music-News.com grabbed a quick interview with the lovely chap to find out a little more.
