Aussie producer, Kilter has released his ’Shades' EP which has amassed close to a 1 million plays across sound cloud and YouTube. Released in late December, it was highly anticipated among the electronic/dance music crowd. Kilter doesn't disappoint with his infamous infectious beats, reminiscent of a hazy afternoon on a beach in Ibiza.

The six track EP features the likes of Citizen Kay, Ev Jones and Ngaiire to name a few. Kilter has famously remixed for house music's finest, Ben Pearce and Duke Dumont. So he knows what the audience is listening for and track one opens the listener up perfectly to what Kilter is best at; producing some memorable hooks.

It's not a 'never done before' type of work for this genre of music, but this EP still has something of an original feeling to it. The catchy electric beats feel like summer anthems.

Track 3 features rising rapper, Citizen Kay, which makes the sound more accessible to a wider audience. Kilter cleverly incorporates bars by Kay, along with his infectious beat. Impressively he doesn't lose the electronic feel he is known for, whilst adding more to the range with a hip hop element. Making 'Alive again' my favourite track on the EP.

As you go through the tracks, the beats slow down and the lyrical works get moodier, towards the middle. The penultimate track, 'Hold Me' featuring YOUTH, is the slowest to start with sultry, slow vocals that continue throughout. By now the energy is more reserved but not in anyway lacking.

A second listen is definitely advised to really hear all that's going on in each track. ¬Great vocals by the featuring artists, along with impeccably mapped drum patterns and synth outbursts make Kilter a name to remember in house &electronic music genre, and I look forward to hearing more from him in the future.
