How long have you been involved in music? I started singing when I was four years old, and although there were periods in my life where music had to take a back seat, ultimately it always managed to resurface as one of my number one priorities.
What are your goals in music ? One of my dreams is to involve myself in the world of musicals, which link music to theatre – my field of study at university.
Do you have a standard routine before performing? Usually I like to start with some vocal exercises so as to warm up the voice. I also make sure that I drink plenty of water to keep the vocal chords moist. Finally, I remind myself that, no matter what happens on stage, the most important thing is to enjoy it.
Name another Konkors Kanzunetta Indipendenza Finalist you admire? Phyllisienne Brincat, who was my very first vocal coach.
What’s your opinion regarding the music industry in Malta? Although Malta is an extremely small island, it is flooded with talent. I believe that this fact makes it rather tough to find the right opportunity but thanks to competitions such as the Konkors Kanzunetta Indipendenza, artists are given the chance to showcase their talent.
Do you believe in collaborations? Who would you duet with? Yes, I feel that collaboration have the ability to pave the way for a type of unique harmony which can be created only be the union of two voices, while helping to uncover one’s new vocal dimensions. If I had the chance, I would love to collaborate with Enrique Iglesias.
How would you celebrate if you win Konkors Kanzunetta Indipendenza 2014? If so happens, I would spend such a precious moment in the company of my family and my closest friends who constantly offer their support.
Your Message to Music News Malta followers? Thank you for supporting local talent and the Maltese music scene. Without you we wouldn’t have anyone to sing to!
