Midge Ure, the man behind the iconic 80’s band Ultravox, co-creator of Live Aid/ Band Aid/ Live 8 with Bob Geldolf and currently hailed in the echelons of musical history as one of the men responsible for ‘Vienna’, now officially the most popular and respected record of the 80’s. (As voted by Absolute Radio listeners).

Midge Ure’s atmospheric and glittering career has spanned over three decades as a former member of Thin Lizzy, Visage, Ultravox and as a solo artist, Midge has also been a tireless campaigner for ‘Save the Children’, has an OBE, multiple Brit Awards & Ivor Novello awards and once came close to winning Celebrity Masterchef whilst enjoying his cookery hobby.

A multi platinum selling artist, Midge has a magic touch when it comes to writing hits that stand the test of time, ‘Vienna’, despite only reaching number 2 in the charts remains one of the biggest selling records of it’s year of release (1981) ‘Do They Know It’s Christmas’ is the biggest selling single in the history of the British Charts and his single ‘If I Was’ from his solo debut album ‘The Gift’ went straight in at number 1.

In 1995, Midge delivered his fourth solo album, ‘Breathe’, to BMG just 10 years after the phenomenal successes of Band Aid and Live Aid. Always one to ring the changes, this album had a very Celtic feel with a plethora of acoustic instruments from Uilleann pipes to mandolins and accordions. The title track was picked up by Swatch watches and headed their most successful advertising campaign ever. The album went triple platinum and was a massive success all over Europe.

After the successful reformation of Ultravox in 2009, Midge feels it's time to revisit his Celtic roots, and will perform ‘Breathe’ in its entirety for the first time in 2015, ably accompanied by two musicians from India Electric Co, to recreate the nature of the album. Of course to delight his audience, he will also play a selection of his other hits including; ‘Vienna’, ‘Fade to Grey’ and ‘If I Was’, along with songs from his recently released album ‘Fragile’, which jumped onto the Radio 2 playlist last year and was voted one of the top 10 albums of the year by the Huffington Post.

Midge is currently touring his album Breathe and will be joining the 80's Invasion Tour with Nick Heywood, Curiosity Killed The Cat & Big Country next year.
