The Hyena Kill

Oh no, not another two piece playing downtuned heavy blues orientated rock? There’s does appear to be a glut of these bands at the moment with Royal Blood, Blood Red Shoes and Honeyblood (notice anything else familiar) releasing admittedly quality music.

They are not totally new but we now have The Hyena Kill (Steven Dobb – guitars/vocals and Lorna Blundell – drums) coming into the fray, albeit from a different angle. Still Sick is the new single and this steers away from the aforementioned template. It’s heavy and its rock but is more in line with the clipped speed-thrill of Lard and Deftones at their most vicious. A ferocious, pneumatic song that - save for a curious interlude midway through - doesn’t let up.
