The Vinylheads (great name) are 5 lads (cousins to be precise) from Ireland, who having formed a band in 2012 after meeting up at a family wedding, are hoping to add their name to the talented rostrum of Irish pop/rock bands which have enriched our lives.

They seem well on the way too with “Pear”, the first single to be released from their debut album ‘”kicks”.

It’s a catchy pop song, with great jangly melodic guitar and neat, clever chord changes (reminding me of ‘The Undertones’), slowly building up, veering towards a rousing chorus and uplifting close.

That enthusiasm and naivety that lingers throughout the song, typical of first album material is fresh and appealing and press play comes easy.
