Tom Figgins

Notting Hill born Tom Figgins might have a surname that belongs in a Charles Dickens novel but the singer definitely has a touch of America about his sound. Appearing at the Cornbury Festival shows his folk roots, but as this single's title suggests there is much to be gained from developing your sound. After a John Martyn like acoustic guitar intro, that's exactly what this song does - lets its roots grow - to a wider screen sound.

Perhaps influenced by being signed by the same man who once landed the signature of Bono and the gang (Nick Stewart), there is a stadium rock feel as the song develops - but at the heart is a pop song of top quality. Figgins says it's about sticking to your guns and trusting your roots and if he continues to have faith, he could do very well indeed.
