Who said that romance was dead, ay? This duo from the sunny Californian locale of Monterey Bay exudes a camaraderie that playfully suggests that they are intimately involved. But that couldn’’t be further from the truth. They, in fact, have been described as ‘musical soulmates’ who met in a college dance studio; sort of like the real life embodiment of Zac and Vanessa’s High School Musical get-together.

The Send Me A Sign Ep is their melodious collaboration and proves that we are dealing with two very talented individuals with oodles of savoir-faire within their craft. They infuse sentimentality and richness into this short offering, lending the listener a snippet of what is possibly to come from the non-touring band.

It’s interesting to hear how they perk up the folk genre, rehabilitating the typical measured and undeveloped approach of old with playful, cheerful lyrics and incongruous instrumentation. Now, you don’t just want to listen to music attentively whilst sitting, you want to get up and jig along to the peppy pop-iness of it all.

But, if I had to decide what makes this EP so powerful, then the key attribute would be the togetherness of the band; a togetherness that has been refined over years of being within each other’s’ company and experiencing highs and pitfalls. Listening to the songs and harmonies they deliver makes it all seem so effortless and comfortable.
