With an imminent release of a greatest hits, “Direct Hits” and rumours that the Las Vegas rockers are going to take a break, it’s no wonder The Killers’ show at the Eventim Apollo, Hammersmith sold out instantaneously.
Playing Wembley and The Garage in June, this was the foursome’s third show in London this calendar year, it also marks the tenth anniversary of their first London show back in 2003. They could have easily sold the place out four times over but the Apollo seemed the right intimate destination to treat and honour their ever supportive UK fans.

The show comes just after they finished their mammoth Battle Born world tour and they are due to perform at the MTV EMA show in Amsterdam later this month.

Playing their biggest hits from their four multi-platinum albums the crowd were treated to a memorable night of solid hits. All killers no fillers!

Opening with one of their new tracks “Shot At The Night” a sweet anthem of finding love and chances in big cities and unlikely situations, the crowd were singing every word back to Brandon.

"There's something in the air tonight! We've been coming here for ten years, and you were ." Brandon Flowers announced to the capacity crowd in the middle of the first ones to make us feel worth it. Damn! You gave us the confidence that we could do anything” Flowers announced to the crowd midway through Battle Born track, The Way It Was.

The global rockers played a hour and half set of their biggest hits from massive crowd jumping belters ‘Runaways’ and ‘Spaceman’ to more settled down and intimate songs like ‘A Dustland Fairytale’ and a stripped down acoustic version of ‘Read My Mind’. They also played a laser filled cover of Joy Division’s ‘Shadowplay’.

They topped the night off with the explosive ‘When You Were Young’ and the indie rock anthem of a generation, ‘Mr Brightside’. The audience were in awe.

All smiles and bowing down to the appreciative crowd after the encore they hardly looked like the type of band to be close to splitting up.

Drummer, Ronnie Vannucci, recently spoke about their current plans for a break to the Hollywood Reporter saying: "I think it will be a little while. I don't think it will take an unnaturally long time for us to get guys together. [But] it's time to take a breather and ground out a little bit."

All members are planning to pursue other projects in the time. Brandon Flowers recently announced plans for a new solo album following up to his first, Flamingo. Vannucci has also discussed his new work with side project, Big Talk.

If this show was the last Killers we see in the UK for a while they certainly went out with a bang!
