‘Dorian’ is the new single from Agnes Obel, released 16th December on Play It Again Sam. Following ‘The Curse’, ‘Dorian’ is the second single to be taken from Agnes’s recently released new album ‘Aventine’. Rapturously received by critics here and across Europe, ‘Aventine’ entered the Top 5 album chart in four countries, reaching No.1 in her native Denmark and No.2 in France. The album is the follow-up to Agnes’s 2010 debut ‘Philharmonics’, which sold almost half a million copies.
Agnes was over last month playing sold out shows in Glasgow, Bristol and a magical show at the Union Chapel in London. She has just announced a 2014 headline tour - which includes a date at London’s Barbican, her biggest UK headline show so far.
Of the acclaimed Union Chapel show The Times said ‘Obel cast a magical spell…close your eyes and you could have been transported to mountains, forests or roaring firesides in Winter’ while the Financial Times singled out ‘Dorian’s ‘implicit pop yearning’ for special praise and further declared ‘By the time she performs at the Barbican next April, Obel will have to have got used to being a much bigger star’
