Divorce are today sharing new single ‘My Room’, the second new song to emerge from the Nottingham quartet this year. ‘My Room’ follows March single ‘Gears’ and sees them link up again with producer Catherine Marks (boygenius, Foals, Wolf Alice). The band also recently shared news of a full UK tour which will take place through October, kicking off with a sold-out four-night residency at Nottingham’s Bodega, and culminating in their biggest headline show to date at London’s Islington Assembly Hall.

Finding themselves on the lips of many tastemakers heading into 2024, drawing international media support and becoming fixtures on the BBC 6 Music playlist, Divorce have already been out on the road in support of Bombay Bicycle Club, The Vaccines and Everything Everything this year, on the heels of 2023’s acclaimed Heady Metal EP. Lauded as a striking portrait of insecurity upon release, it marched through nervy and fluttering meditations on learning to be comfortable in your own skin. Their limited-edition Record Store Day vinyl repress quickly sold out of its 500 copies last month.

With quiet, escalating drama and an open heart, on ‘My Room’ Divorce plant another signpost in the ground that points towards their grand, adventurous ambitions. Vocalist and bassist Tiger Cohen-Towell says: “My Room is an ode to unconditional love. These lyrics are truly some of the most emotionally vulnerable I think I’ve written to date; it speaks of a deep desire to be relaxed about showing affection toward someone that you know extremely well. I think familiarity can be scary at times, and being truly seen can make you throw walls up between yourself and the people you want to be closest to. We had a group of wonderful kids singing on the last chorus, the children’s voices I think adds both naïveté and heaviness to the track. This really summarises the feeling we wanted to achieve with this song. It’s like being back in your childhood bedroom and crying and not really knowing why. But it’s joyous too!”
