Rock icons The Who have officially announced their final North American tour, The Song Is Over, bringing an end to their legendary run with a farewell series of shows across the U.S. and Canada in 2025. The tour’s name nods to their 1971 classic and symbolizes the closing chapter of a musical journey that’s spanned nearly 60 years.

Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend broke the news at a live-streamed press conference from London’s Iconic Images gallery, where they also showcased a rare piece of band memorabilia: an American football helmet featured on the cover of their 1974 album Odds & Sods—recently returned from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Kicking off August 16 in Sunrise, Florida, the 20-date tour includes stops in major cities like New York, Boston, Toronto, Chicago, Los Angeles, and Las Vegas. Daltrey reflected on the band’s American legacy, saying, “America has always been great to us. The cultural freedom we felt through rock music started there. This tour is our way of saying thank you.”

Townshend echoed the sentiment: “Playing to American and Canadian fans has been the best job I could’ve asked for. This farewell is about honoring that connection, sharing memories, and playing with love and laughter one last time.”

Tickets go on sale May 16, with pre-sales beginning May 13 for Citi cardmembers and The Who’s official fan club, the Whooligans. Fan packages include early ticket access, exclusive merch, and the unreleased Live at the Oval 1971 album. VIP packages offer soundcheck access, autographed posters, and more.

From their breakout at the 1967 Monterey Pop Festival to their unforgettable post-9/11 performance in New York, The Who’s mark on American music culture is indelible. With this final tour, Daltrey and Townshend promise one last, unforgettable celebration of rock history.
