Maroon 5 have rescheduled seven concert dates as Adam Levine prepares for the impending birth of his first child.

The frontman took to Instagram on Friday (02Sep16) to announce the band were forced to postpone the gigs as he eagerly awaits the arrival of his baby with wife Behati Prinsloo.

The 27-year-old Victoria's Secret supermodel is due on 20 September (16), and the band have rearranged their planned gigs in late September to give Adam chance to be there for the birth.

"Sadly, it's par for the course with having a baby soon," he said in the clip on Instagram. "It's life, and it's beautiful, but it can be complicated, and I apologise for any inconvenience."

"We hope you guys can go to the shows, they'll be just as great," Adam reassured fans in the video. "We love you, and we're sorry."

Maroon 5's official website confirmed the concerts in Albany, Montreal, Quebec, Buffalo, Cleveland, Cincinnati and Milwaukee will be rescheduled to February and March of next year (17). All tickets for these rescheduled dates will be honoured by the venues.

The 37-year-old said in a statement on the band's website, "Even when you think you’ve planned everything perfectly sometimes life just kinda (sic) happens. Soon Behati and I will be celebrating the birth of our first child and, as I’m sure you all understand, I need to be there but unfortunately this means some of Maroon 5’s upcoming shows need to be rescheduled.

"I know this might present an inconvenience to our fans out there and I apologise for this. I’m really looking forward to seeing everyone in the spring."

Maroon 5 kicked off their U.S. tour on Saturday (03Sep16) in Texas, and will finish for a two-week break on 19 September, the day before Behati's due date. The band will resume their tour duties on 3 October in St Louis, Missouri.
