Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Brand took home Top Tour honors and Coldplay won both the Top Draw and Top Boxscore category at the 13th annual Billboard Touring Conference & Awards, which recognizes the best of the concert industry, on Wednesday night at the SLS Hotel in Beverly Hills.
Presented by Billboard, the leading global destination for charts, news, business, lifestyle and innovations in music, and hosted by American Idol Season One’s Brian Dunkleman, the Touring Awards honors the industry’s top achievers in categories including Top Festival, Top Arena, Top Manager and Top Comedy Tour. The winners are based on Billboard’s Boxscore chart data, which tracks gate receipts for concerts, comedy shows and other live events.
Bon Jovi, who has grossed well over $1 billion in ticket sales around the world in the past decade, was named the 2016 Legend of Live for the band’s significant impact on the touring industry. Scooter Bruan, Founder of SB Projects, was named the 2016 Humanitarian for his ongoing philanthropic efforts. Hip-hop star Raury performed at the event held for the first time in Los Angeles.
Among the evening’s other winners were The Justin Bieber Purpose Tour featuring Post Malone and Moxie Raia for Top Package; Coachella Music & Arts Festival for Top Festival; Adele for Breakthrough; and Chance the Rapper Magnificent Coloring Day with Citi, H&M, Honda and Bud Light for the Concert Marketing & Promotion Award, which highlights the year’s best tour/brand collaboration.
