Oasis will begin recording their new album next month, Noel Gallagher has announced.

The band are due to commence work on the follow-up to 2005's "Don't Believe The Truth" on July 3.

Noel says the intention is for the record to be released next summer, but admitted that maybe "wishful thinking".

He explained: "The songs are written... but don't hold your breath because the last album took three-and-half-years and three goes.

"It would be great if it was done by the end of the year and we could get out on the road by next summer, but that's insane wishful thinking", Noel told the BBC.
